In July 2019, the housing policy plan for these areas was implemented together with a package of urban planning measures and incentives, including financial assistance for housing construction.

In this article, we focus on the financial assistance of the plan.

The aim and objective is to provide housing facilities to those groups of citizens who meet specific criteria. In the 16 months of implementation of the Plan, 139 applications were approved for the outermost regions, with a total expenditure of €3.9 million.  For the mountainous areas covered by the plan, where the primary objective is to create conditions of residence for applicants and especially young people, fighting urbanism, 14 were approved at a cost of €460,000.

The criteria were amended in November 2020.
The Communities now included in the Plan increased from 128 to 259.
The population now covered by the new Plan increased from 25,596 inhabitants to 82,987.

The second important parameter that was amended was the increase in the financial aid ceiling for young couples and large families.

A third parameter was also created for areas considered to be extremely mountainous and extremely small and remote communities,  on the basis of criteria of course. Below we list the relevant financial aid table, as well as the revised list of villages within the  Limassol province.

For Limassol province, we have already noticed an increased interest in buying land in the communities covered by the Plan, especially those closest to the urban center.

In addition, agricultural parcels are in high demand by interested parties who wish to use agricultural land for the construction of agricultural warehouses, the installation of alternative energy systems, and for cultivation.
